Caring for the land around us
Discover how we’re growing, sourcing, and planning greener weddings at Water’s Edge.
From the food we serve to the suppliers we choose, we’re passionate about reducing our environmental impact and protecting the beauty of the landscape around us.
Thoughtful choices with a lasting impact
At Water’s Edge, every decision we make is designed to work with the environment, rather than against it. We have our very own solar farm to help us make better use of renewable energy, and we only allow dried petal confetti to minimise plastic waste. We’ve also recently introduced our own beehives and will use the honey within our delicious dishes and breakfasts. Alongside this, we’ve planted wildflowers in our bottom field to help support pollinators and encourage biodiversity across the grounds.
In the kitchen, our team works closely with the seasons, the land, and the ingredients that grow around us. We grow all our own herbs, use watercress from the stream wherever possible, and forage in the local woods for wild garlic, mushrooms, berries, and damsons. These ingredients are then used to create seasonal dishes, syrups, and bespoke cocktails that bring a true taste of our unspoilt Cotswold setting to your celebration.
At Water’s Edge, we work with a handpicked collection of trusted local suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability, responsible sourcing, and exceptional quality.
Fresh, seasonal produce is at the heart of our menus, which is why we work with Bramleys Wholesale: a family-run fruit and vegetable supplier based in Cirencester. They source locally wherever possible and work closely with nearby farmers and growers, helping to bring the best of the Cotswolds into the Water’s Edge kitchen.
The high-quality meat served at Water’s Edge comes from Walter Rose & Son, a family-run butcher based in Wiltshire. Founded in 1847, they’re dedicated to building long-standing relationships with trusted local farmers and making their farm-to-form process as sustainable as possible.
Every Water’s Edge wine comes from Wanderlust, whose portfolio is built around hand-selected, top-quality wines from small independent producers and family-owned vineyards. They only work with vineyards who share their commitment to quality and responsible sourcing, ensuring every bottle has a story behind it.
From beers and spirits to soft drinks and mixers, Inn Express helps to keep our bars stocked with a wide range of drinks. As an independent, family-run business, they’re continually working to reduce their environmental impact, minimise packaging waste, and give back to the local community.
Throughout our accommodation, you’ll find luxurious toiletries and bathroom products from Bramley: a Wiltshire-born brand loved by leading hotels, restaurants, and guest spaces across the UK. Their products are made with natural essential oils and inspired by the British countryside, and they also champion recyclable packaging and refillable options.
Weddings with a more sustainable footprint
Water’s Edge is still growing, and sustainability will continue to play an important role in our next chapter. As we look ahead to the future, including the development of our new hotel accommodation, The Springs at Ewen, we’re exploring new opportunities to work in harmony with the environment around us.
We’re looking carefully at areas such as energy, materials, planting, produce, and our everyday operations to help us make more responsible choices as our wedding venue evolves. There’s always more to learn and more to do, but we’ll continue doing all we can to protect the natural beauty of our landscape for generations to come.
