What to expect from a two-night wedding: making the most of every hour
Most single-day weddings go by too quickly. But we do things differently at Water’s Edge. Here’s what a typical timeline at our two-day wedding venue looks like.
If you ask any newly married couple what they thought of their wedding day, there’s a good chance they’ll tell you it went by too quickly. Months of planning and decision-making all boil down to one enormous day; and it’s all over in the blink of an eye.
Most wedding venues host one wedding per day, meaning that you and your guests will need to leave by midnight so the venue can be turned around for the new couple. But at Water’s Edge, we do things differently. Every wedding here unfolds across two nights rather than just one afternoon and evening, giving you plenty of time to relax and savour every moment.
Here’s what a typical timeline at our two-day wedding venue looks like, and why those extra hours are worth having.

A typical timeline at our two-day wedding venue
The evening before your wedding
Every wedding at Water’s Edge at Ewen begins the night before. You and your closest family (or bridal party) can check in to our luxurious on-site accommodation from 4.30pm and get settled properly before anyone else turns up.
The evening before tends to go one of a few ways. You could use this time to:
- Add the finishing touches to the venue yourself – for example arrange florals on the tables, or set up your cake display and guest book
- Host a relaxed pre-wedding dinner in the reception room or courtyard for your overnight guests
- Simply unpack, settle in, and get an early night before the big day
There’s no pressure and nothing to rush. Our venue is exclusively yours throughout the entirety of the two days, so you can settle in at a pace that feels right for you.
The morning of your wedding
Nobody likes to feel rushed on their wedding morning. But because you had time to set everything up the evening before, yours can start slowly instead.
Here’s how you might spend your wedding morning at Water’s Edge:
- Your bridal party and closest family can get their hair and make-up done together in the shared pamper area
- Sit down and tuck into a proper breakfast, rather than just grabbing a quick coffee before getting changed
- Enjoy a gentle stroll down to the lake (if the weather allows) before your first guests arrive
This is the real magic of an exclusive use wedding venue for two nights – a calm, relaxed morning before you walk down the aisle and say “I do”.

Your wedding day
Your wedding ceremony and reception don’t look wildly different at a two-night wedding. You can still exchange your vows beside the water or inside our beautiful converted barn, still sit down to a delicious wedding breakfast (or enjoy a relaxed BBQ), and still party the night away. What changes is the pressure sitting underneath all of it.
At most single-day wedding venues, the clock starts working against you from the moment your guests arrive. There’s an underlying time constraint running through the whole day, because the venue needs to reset the room for another wedding the next morning.
This might mean:
- You can only arrive an hour or two before your guests turn up
- Your photographs get squeezed into a tight gap before the wedding breakfast is served
- The evening has a hard stop, even if your guests are still in the party mood
- Suppliers might be clearing out while your last guests are still saying goodbye
- Guests who have travelled from afar need to sort out their own accommodation
None of that applies at Water’s Edge at Ewen. There’s no next-day changeover to plan around, so your evening can run as long as you like. You and your guests have all the time you need to socialise, celebrate, explore, and unwind, without constantly watching the minutes tick by. And once the last dance is over, you don’t have to quickly pack up and go home; you get to stay on-site for one more night.
The morning after your wedding
Sadly, every wedding at Water’s Edge eventually has to come to an end. But we make sure your two nights end gently rather than abruptly.
You get to wake up as newlyweds in the luxurious couple’s suite, with a delicious breakfast included for everyone who stayed over. But if you’d rather not say your goodbyes over a full English at 9am, we can arrange a post-wedding brunch instead, giving your and your closest guests one more relaxed meal together before check out at 11am.

FAQs
Every wedding at Water’s Edge unfolds over two days as standard. Your booking automatically gets you exclusive use of the venue and two nights of accommodation – it isn’t an upgrade that you can choose to add on.
No. The two nights in our on-site accommodation and exclusive use of the grounds and lake are included in your venue hire fee as standard rather than charged as an extra. You won’t see a separate line item on your quote for the additional night.
Our three luxurious on-site bedrooms are reserved for you and your closest family. There’s the couple’s suite for the two of you, plus two further rooms for whoever you’d like close by for the night before and the night of your wedding.
The bedrooms themselves are kept for you and your close family (or bridal party). If you’d like to invite a slightly larger group to the dinner or brunch, just mention it to your wedding coordinator in advance so that we can cater for the correct number of guests.
